This is simply the simultaneous cultivation of rice and culture of fish in the same pond. The relationship between the two is symbiotic, i.e. the fishes feed on insects harmful to rice whilst also adding to the soil nutrient with their droppings thereby, making sure there is no competition between plant and animal. The fishes may be stocked artificially or just from the natural aquatic environment.
